Crop Productivity, Economic Advantage, and Photosynthetic Characteristics in a Corn-Peanut Intercropping System

Corn-peanut intercropping is an important element of China’s agricultural planting model as it confers ecological benefits and increases yield. The aim this study was to explore the productivity differences between monoculture by using 13C isotope tracer labelling method. Corn hybrid Denghai 618 (DH618) peanut variety Huayu 22 (HY22) were used test materials under three methods, single corn, SM; peanut, SP; corn-peanut intercropping, IM IP, respectively, during two growing seasons. results showed that increased yield 59.7% 62.3% compared with SM, respectively. IP reduced 31.3% 32.3% SP, significantly photosynthetic rate, leaf area, assimilation distribution, dry matter accumulation summer which led increase in kernel number grain decrease intercropped mainly caused a full-pod rate pods per plant. did not affect production benefit due larger advantage land equivalence ratio. yielded greater economic than monoculture. These utility peanut-corn model.
